Army Public School (APS) is a system of schools, founded in 1971, catering to the educational needs of children of army personnel. The school has its genesis in the merger of two schools, one started by the Army in 1941 and the other, the Air Force School, established in 1950. The school is administered by the Board of Governors with the Director-General (DG), of Army Public Schools as the Chairman.

The school system is divided into primary, middle, and high school levels. There are more than 150 APS schools located in different cantonments and garrison towns of Pakistan. The schools offer education to the children of military personnel and civilians. The medium of instruction in the schools is English, except for the language subjects. The Army Public School system was founded in 1984 as a result of the army’s need for a quality education system for their children. The first school was established in Abbottabad, and now there are over 130 schools in the system.
